First Session Reflections/Journaling

I'm really excited and happy about the fact that the class started with real hands on activities. everyone introduced himself/herself to the class with one of his/her super skills. we have learned how to create blog, my space, and Efolio. all of these are diferent forms of expressing yourself on the woldwide net. I'm writing this as my weekly journal to demonstrate my ability to post on my blog. I hope this meets my objective.

Standard 10. Collaboration, Ethics, and Relationship

in evidence of Standard 10 (the teacher communicates and interacts with parents/guardians, families, school colleagues, and community to support students' learning and well-being), I have participated in the spring 09 parent/teacher conference at the school that I have student taught. many parents were very supportive and enthusiastic about the education of their children. one specific issue that came up was the fact that a lot of students recieved lower grades and at some point got failing grade due to not returning homework/assignments. some students were telling parents that they do all their work at school and do not need to work at home. because of the one-to-one discussions we had with the parents, we developed a plan to resolve that issue and agreed that I and my cooperating teacher will require students to write down all their homework in the planners and parents to sign for them at home to present when they return assignments. this helped many students improve their grades.
